Here we have a media converter. Just like in the old days when you would turn in VHS tapes for DVD's, you can now switch from QuickTime to Matroshka, from AVI to MKV and from SWF to GIF if your heart so desires. But wait, there's more!
Format Factory can read a considerable range of video, audio and image files and then save them as different types. Was that clear? The interface is clear once you know what to look for. Although you first see a grid of big buttons referring to video conversion, underneath them there are categories for audio, picture and discs.
The general principle is like this: You select a "to something" button and then add the files to be converted in the subsequent window. After clicking Ok, the files will appear in the main window's task list. From there you just click Start and the new files will appear in the Output folder (which can be modified for every file individually).
In Video you can convert to a variety of video formats, including Flash video and GIF. You can also convert to specific mobile formats, for example PSP, Android, iPhone or Nokia tailored formats and resolutions. The Audio tab offers pretty much the same thing but for audio files. FLAC and APE are some less known file types that get treated. As for the Picture tab, you already know the drill.
In ROM Device, you can rip video DVD's and audio CD's into different video and audio types. Images of discs can also be created. Unfortunately, Format Factory does not feature disc burning.
Furthermore, you can join media files to create a contiguous video or audio file.
